There is an art to embedding culture. In working to further ingrain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, the St Nicholas Early Education Centre at Cardiff has established strong connections with the local and wider community.
Since the beginning of the year staff in the Learning Lions room at St Nicholas Early Education, Singleton, have encouraged children to demonstrate small acts of kindness towards their friends and carers each day. Our aim in promoting kindness was not only for the children to show kindness and compassion within our centre but to spread kindness into our community.
As part of our community involvement, the Learning Lions were proud to show their support for our local SES volunteers on their national WOW Day on 10 May.
On our first adventure walk last week, Oliver and Caleb noticed rubbish on the ground and told us that we needed to pick it up. Their interest in keeping our environment clean led us to participating on 2 March in the national "Clean Up Australia Day" initiative
In March this year, one of our families kindly donated a pair of adult spiny leaf insects. We were given a male and female whom we named Twiggy and Twinkle.
