A message from Gerard Mowbray,
Director of Catholic Schools, Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle

The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle wishes to advise that five Catholic schools in the Manning region will be non-operational tomorrow, Monday 22 March 2021.

This includes:

  • St Joseph's Primary School, Bulahdelah
  • St Joseph's Primary School, Gloucester
  • St Joseph's Primary School, Taree
  • St Clare's High School, Taree
  • St Joseph's Primary School, Wingham

The schools have been deemed non-operational on the back of extreme weather conditions in the region and is in accordance with the Diocese's ongoing commitment to ensuring our staff and students' health and safety.

Holy Name Primary School, Forster will remain open, but for supervision purposes only. Where possible, parents and carers of children attending Holy Name are urged to keep their children home.

Schools will reopen once it is deemed safe, and the community will be kept abreast of these updates promptly via the schools' communication channels and local media. If you need to contact your child's school regarding any concerns or requests for assistance, please contact them directly.

St Nicholas OOSH, Taree will be closed tomorrow and St Nicholas OOSH, Forster will remain open.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our local communities who have been deeply affected by the devastation of this intense rainfall.
