St Mary’s Scone celebrate Grandparent’s Day

Students from St Mary’s Primary School, Scone celebrated the very important people in their lives during their Grandparent’s Day event.

A very special event on the St Mary’s school calendar each year is Grandparent’s Day. It is always wonderful to welcome so many family members to the school on this day.

The day commenced with a special liturgy, prayers and blessing to recognise and celebrate the gift of grandparents.

This was followed by a generous morning tea with a variety of home baked treats to share.

Grandparents were then treated to a showcase of performances from all classes throughout the school. They were enthralled with poems, songs, special memories and photo displays, all to thank and recognise the important role they play in the community and the lives of their grandchildren.

A special treat was the performance from Kindergarten and their Year 6 buddies using the ukuleles generously donated by Rural Aid Gift of Music.

Family members were then invited to tour the school and visit classrooms before enjoying a special lunch together.

"The students loved sharing their character strengths with their grandparents who travel from far and wide to enjoy this special day!" said Principal, Kim Wilson.

The day was filled with much love, laughter and stories to pass on to the next generation!
