Catholic Schools Week 2017 - Day 6

What a wonderful ending to the school week! There was lots of fun and excitement to be seen across the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle during day six of Catholic Schools Week 2017.

The very first St Joseph’s Primary School, East Maitland art show drew a huge crowd for the morning liturgy where both the infants and primary student choirs performed, followed by a smoking ceremony in the school grounds. Parents and family were invited into the classrooms to share in workbook fun and had the opportunity to purchase once-off art pieces by the students.

Up the highway at St Patrick’s Primary School, Lochinvar, students had been split into teams for the tabloid events which followed their morning liturgy. With water relays, chopstick weightlifting and balloon races, it was difficult to know if it was the students, teachers or parents that were having more fun.

At Our Lady of Victories Primary School, Shortland, family and friends were invited to open classrooms where students shared their achievements and creative work in class. Soon after, parents, teachers, students and friends gathered in the school hall for a special concert performed by each year. Students were able to show off their incredible talent from singing, role plays, reciting the times tables and playing the ukulele.

Meanwhile, over the bridge in Stockton, students from St Peter’s Primary School gathered with their visitors for a special Catholic Schools Week liturgy. Following the liturgy, everyone enjoyed a delicious sausage sizzle in the playground.
