An Olympic surprise for students at St Patrick's, Lochinvar

On Friday 5 August, St Patrick’s Primary School, Lochinvar, Year 4 students participated in a unique and special Olympic experience.

The students chatted ‘live’ via the internet with not one but two Australian Olympic athletes from Rio de Janeiro!

Two members of the Australian Olympic Synchronised Swimming Team, Bianca Hammett and Hannah Cross, were able to make time in their very busy schedules to speak with the class. Three other Australian primary schools from the Northern Territory, Queensland and Victoria also participated in the ‘live chat’.

The Live chat worked really well, we could see and hear Bianca and Hannah perfectly and they answered everyone's questions. We even showed our support by wearing green and gold!

We’d like to thank the Australian Olympic Committee and Bianca and Hannah for allowing St Patrick's, Lochinvar, to be part of the Rio Olympics.

You never know, one of our students may just be a a future Olympian.
