Carers enjoyed the opportunity to meet with other carers and staff in a relaxed environment, and were treated to massages and wine tasting as well as gifts kindly donated by local businesses including Silo Restaurant and Lounge, Oakvale Farm, Hunter Valley Zoo, Tamburlaine, TreeTops Newcastle, Blue Water Sailing, The Edwards and Revolution Sports Park.
Alarmingly and in NSW alone, the number of children and young people in Permanency Support Programs (foster care) has increased by 8,000 since 2006. Our special group of carers provide care to some of the 10,000 children and young people across the Hunter and Central Coast who are unable to live with their parents but sadly, there are still not enough carers to meet demand and the situation is now at crisis point.
CatholicCare, in conjunction with the Department of Family and Community Services, is currently seeking individuals, couples and families to provide safe and secure homes for children and young people.
CatholicCare partners with our carers, providing them with ongoing support and development opportunities, as well as an allowance to assist with meeting their care needs. To find out more please contact our Carer Recruitment Team here.
