I completed teaching degree (Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies) at the University of Newcastle.
I have been teaching in both the Early Years setting and primary school teaching roles for seven years both in Australia and the United Kingdom.
I have recently moved back to Newcastle after living and working in Sydney for four years. In Sydney I was room leader in both the three to four years room and the transition to school year room at International Grammar School.
Earlier, I lived and worked in the United Kingdom for two years, teaching and travelling as much as I could. Prior to this, I was a nanny in Colorado, USA.
For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I come from a large family of teachers, so it was ingrained in me from an early age! Having grown up in the Upper Hunter region, I have a love for the outdoors and have been involved in various sports. I am a keen swimmer and netball player.
I am committed to being the best teacher that I can be, whether it’s taking pride in the learning environment or engaging and inspiring our young children and of course their families. I value the opportunity to reflect on my practice as a means of developing a program that is inspirational and relevant to the interests of the children. I have a strong passion for early literacy and thrive on introducing many learning opportunities to children to enhance their emerging literacy awareness.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know all the children and their families, so please don’t hesitate to come up for a chat! It’s good to be home!
