Schnitties fit for saints

Lucky staff members at St Paul’s Catholic College, Booragul were treated to a delicious lunch last week, with Year 12 Hospitality students whipping up the culinary delight as part of their course that requires them to prepare and present several functions.

As a result of lost time at school due to COVID-19, we have had to create extra functions this year for our Year 12 students to complete their course requirements. Our staff were the lucky beneficiaries of one such impromptu event.

The students decided they would like to serve a hot, sit-down lunch for staff. They devised a menu, invited teachers, prepared, and served the lunch and then cleaned up afterwards. They then had to complete an evaluation of the function.

“Pub Grub” was the style the students decided to prepare – chicken schnitzel, chips and salad with gravy. Dessert was a chocolate brownie. This function held a few extra challenges for our Year 12's as they had to think of ways to enable their guests to adhere to social-distancing rules in their pop-up restaurant.

Our teachers were full of praise for our talented Year 12 chefs and enjoyed their meals immensely.

We hope to hold other similar functions at the school next term.
