Students travelled from the Diocese of Bathurst, Armidale, Broken Bay, Wilcannia Forbes and Lismore as well as our own students. Several students from the diocese were successful in making a Polding team to compete at the NSW PSSA Championships later in the year.
In the tennis, players were highly competitive amidst very hot conditions. In particular, Kaleb Smith from St John Vianney Primary School, Morisset, who performed consistently well throughout the day to gain a place in the Polding Team as did Andrea Flores from Holy Name Primary School, Forster.
A strong boys’ basketball team played hard and when the team was announced two students had made it through, they were Charlie Caffery from St Joseph’s Primary School, East Maitland and Jeremy Kennedy from St John Vianney Primary School, Morisset.
For the girls Mariah Radburn and Amarley Bron from St Joseph’s Primary School,Taree, Saffron Shiels from St Paul’s Primary Schools, Gateshead and Ellarna Gaylor from St Mary’s Primary School, Warners Bay were selected. The girls held a very strong defense with great court vision and adapted to the hot conditions very well.
In the boys cricket Patrick Duffey from St Joseph’s Primary School, Merewether trialed very well to be selected in the Polding team.
