From March 5 – 11, Catholic schools across our region will open their doors to families, friends and community members to celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2017. This year’s theme, ‘Catholic schools: Great learning, Great communities’ focuses on forging and strengthening relationships between Catholic schools and their local communities which enable them to continue to thrive.
March 5 – 11 is Catholic Schools Week across NSW, which also marks the start of the 2018 enrolment period for all 56 of the schools across the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, plus the region’s newest school, St Bede’s Catholic College, Chisholm.
Great schools create bright futures and for over 180 years, Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle have educated thousands of students.
"We are called to act with justice, we are called to love tenderly, we are called to serve one another; to walk humbly with God." The lyrics of "Micah's Theme" filled the Cathedral as the assembly gathered for the Called to Serve Mass.
Today the Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Tanya Plibersek and the Member for Shortland, Pat Conroy visited St Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead to see the positive results of full Gonski funding for schools.
