It is my belief that the Catholic Schools in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese are leading the way in gifted education in Australia, and I am looking forward to contributing to and learning from the great work already happening in our schools and classrooms.
I am coming to the Catholic Schools Office from working in a variety of middle leadership roles in the independent sector, including Middle Years Program Coordinator and Head of Learning Enrichment. In these roles I gained invaluable experience working across all areas of a school and demonstrated a passion for leading differentiated instruction to ensure the success of all learners. I am a secondary English teacher and my classroom has always been an inclusive, dynamic and creative space where expectations are high, and students are challenged to think critically about the world and their role within it. Some of my most rewarding moments as a teacher have been witnessing our young people engage in service-learning, using skills gained in the classroom to care for and empathise with others.
I hold a Master of Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary)/Bachelor of Arts from the University of Newcastle. I have completed a Mini-Certificate in Gifted Education with UNSW and in 2021, will complete a Graduate Certificate in Inclusive Education with Charles Sturt University.
I am looking forward to working in partnership with schools to ensure all our gifted students achieve personal and academic success.
