With heavy down pours the day prior, St Catherine’s had to go to plan B – A Night in the Carpark. This change of plans by no means dampened the Christmas and community spirit on the evening.
With over 170 tickets sold, there was a strong community turnout for the event. Such a large crowd could have been daunting to some of the performers, however they pushed aside any nerves they might have had to put on some amazing displays of talent.
There were some spectacular performances by the college's band, choir and dance groups, as well as voice, guitar, ukulele, piano and instrumental students. There was also a special performance by the teacher’s choir who had a great time performing their 12 Days of Teachers Christmas, giving the students plenty of reasons to laugh (whether it was with them or at them is unknown).
The evening offered up a range of other activities to keep the little ones entertained including a jumping castle and face painting, as well as plenty to eat in the form of fairy floss, lollies, popcorn, frozen slushies and a sausage sizzle.
"The College appreciates the dedication and generosity of all of the teachers and P&F personnel who were part of the preparation and running of the night," said Niamh Marzol, Principal of St Catherine's.
"We are proud of the students who performed, some for the very first time in public."
All proceeds from the event went towards the P&F which will assist with the 2019 school year and future events.
