The transition day was held on Wednesday 22 November where students were given an introduction to life at primary school. Students were treated to a series of special craft and sport activities during the day as well as having the opportunity to make new friends.
After lunch, an information session was held for new families to gain confidence and socialise with other parents. Student leaders presented their perspective of school life while a parent gave a reflection of her own child’s transition.
"When your child has special needs they will be fostered and embraced at Holy Spirit. It is a very community based school and being part of the community is truly a beautiful thing," said parent Jennifer Thompson.
Following Jennifer's inspirational talk, Assistant Principal, Rachael Macnamara discussed curriculum matters and student wellbeing, engaging parents and families.
At the end of the presentation parents joined with their children in the classroom to help them with craft activities for the remainder of the afternoon.
Holy Spirit Kurri Kurri is looking forward to welcoming all families and students in 2018.
