VIDEO: Students celebrate the joy of Christmas

On Wednesday 29 November, students from St Dominic’s Centre, Mayfield and St Columban’s Primary School, Mayfield attended the annual Christmas pavement art event at St Andrew’s Anglican Church.

All students had the opportunity to showcase their creative talents by using chalk to draw a colourful nativity scene on the pavement. From angels, stars, Jesus and Mary, the drawings were symbols of students’ teamwork, skills and cooperation throughout the day. St Columban’s Principal, Jennifer Crichton said, “Students enjoyed the ecumenical Christmas activity with neighbouring schools where they unlocked their creativity and displayed images of Christmas in chalk on the pavement.”

After a special liturgy, students gathered together to listen to the story, ‘Wombat Divine’ by Mem Fox, followed by Christmas carols and a delicious cake to celebrate 20 years since the inaugural event. “St Dominic’s students are to be commended on their spirit, teamwork and demonstration of friendship skills that they exhibited at this special event,” said St Dominic’s teacher, Margaret Myers.
