Superstar of Ballet

Year 8 student, Hannah Finley of St Paul’s High School, Booragul, has achieved great success in her dancing and drama in 2016 and 2017 is looking just as promising.

Hannah has been involved in the ASPIRE program in dance and drama for four years and has just been accepted into ASPIRE for the fifth year.

Performing from the local level through to the Royal Australian Ballet, Hannah has had significant achievement across local and national eisteddfods.

Hannah achieved placings in most categories, including ballet, contemporary, lyrical, demi character and national character.  Hannah was a finalist in this year’s Sydney Eisteddfod, which is one of the biggest eisteddfods in the country.

Hannah competed against sixty competitors in her age group and also won the National Character Championships (Hungarian) at this year’s local Winter Eisteddfod.

Hannah qualified for the semi-finals of the Royal Australian Ballet Genee Dance Challenge. This competition is held in a different country each year, over two days with a master class on one day and a solo performance the next.

In August, Hannah completed her Intermediate Ballet Exam through the Royal Australian Ballet with great results.

Hannah will be attending a master class with the Australian Ballet at the Civic Theatre, prior to its performance of Giselle.

Hannah also had a lead role in The Enchanted Forest dance concert with the Central School of Dance in December at the Civic Theatre.

In 2015, Hannah participated in a tour of Hong Kong, London and Paris with her dance school, performing at Disneyland, Ocean World and the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong and Disneyland in Paris and also attending workshops at Pineapple Studios and Ballet Rambert in London.

We wish Hannah great success in dance and drama this year, as she begins the year competing in the Royal Academy of Dance Isobel Anderson Awards.
