Allen and I have just returned home from another trip to the Gold Coast. This time we were present for the Confirmation of one of our granddaughters on Thursday evening, at Mary Mother of Mercy Church, Burleigh Parish.

On this cold weekend, we continue to listen to Chapter 13 of the Gospel of Matthew, and his parables about the kingdom of heaven being compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, and how, during the night, his enemy came and sowed darnel among the wheat.

I found this weekend’s Gospel reading from Matthew (13:1-23) about the sower, the seed, and the soil most apt for the visit of Noel Pearson to the diocese, to speak to us about the Uluru Statement from the Heart and the Voice referendum. This week we are also hearing from Common Grace about Listen to the Heart.

I am writing this message some time before you read it, as Allen and I will be on two week’s leave in the north of Queensland with one of our children and her family. Recently, I have had the benefit of watching the recording of the sessions of the Scottish Laity Network on the Synodal Journey.
