We can support ICAN at Hiroshima commemoration

Pope Francis on nuclear weapons: “Weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear weapons, create nothing but a false sense of security. We must listen to the voices of survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, together with other victims of nuclear testing. May their prophetic voice serve as a warning for coming generations.”

Commemorating Hiroshima

Early in the morning of 6 August 1945, a US B-29 bomber, code-named Enola Gay, dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, killing 140,000 people. Three days later a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, mistaking it for the industrial city of Kokura.

Taizé visitor heading to Newcastle

Brother Ghislain from Taizé Community will be visiting Newcastle on Sunday 25 September, and Prayers with Taizé chants will be held at 6.00pm at Merewether Uniting Church on Glebe Road. All are welcome!
