Singleton Waste Management Excursion

On Monday 7 August, the Creative Cubs went on an excursion to the Singleton Waste Management Facility. This was a planned experience to extend on our interest in waste disposal, waste management and the concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

We learned about the function of the waste depot and the importance of recycling correctly. We even had a special tour of the tip face and the recycling centre, where we saw a bulldozer moving and compacting the rubbish as well as the different categories of recycling.

Our last stop was the Burragna recycling shop, where we saw a huge assortment of items that people can come and purchase to reuse. Together we sorted through the items and selected some to purchase and bring back to school to be added to our Loose Parts Play.

The Cubs were very excited about the day and couldn’t wait to share their experiences with their families.
