Diocese projects come up trumps in association awards

Three building projects at Catholic schools – St Pius X High School, Adamstown, St Bede’s Catholic College, Chisholm and St Patrick’s Primary School, Lochinvar – have each featured in the 2018 Master Builders Association Excellence in Building Awards.

  • The library at St Pius X High School in Adamstown won in the $3 million to $6 million commercial projects category
  • Stage One of St Bede’s Catholic College in Chisholm won in the $6 million to $12 million public buildings category
  • Demato Constructions was named Commercial Sub-Contractor of the Year for the work on St Patrick’s Primary School in Lochinvar.

“It was great to feature in three of the four awards that were handed out on the night,” says Ray Bowen, Head of Property Service at the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

This year’s awards attracted over 150 entries representing a combined construction work value of more than $300 million.

The aim of the awards is to encourage, promote and recognise best practice in building.
