VIDEO: Reptilian friends visit St Nicholas Newcastle West

Kids at St Nick’s Newcastle West had some special reptilian visitors from Blackbutt Reserve on Wednesday 7 September 2017.

Hannah and Ned from Newcastle City Council’s Blackbutt Reserve brought some special friends to the centre, including Australian native lizards, turtles and snakes. The children learned what the creatures ate and had an opportunity to gently touch the creatures’ skin. Coming into snake season, Ned also spoke to the children about wildlife safety, and what to do if they came across a snake.

Early Childhood Educator and event organiser, Karina, explained why it was important for the children to learn about reptiles and wildlife, and how to be safe in snake season. Watch a video below and view a photo gallery.
