AFL success in the Diocese

Six students from the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle have been chosen for the NSWPSSA (Primary School Sports Association) Polding AFL team.

The first step was to take part in the Diocese’s AFL trials held at Tulkaba Oval, Teralba, which saw talented footballers from 40 primary school footballers competing for a chance to attend the Polding AFL trials.

Zac Yurisich, Finn Hurley and Gabriel Bose dominated the trials in the air, while Elliot Thomas, Lachlan Sunderland and Lachlan Gillies displayed some silky skills. There were also strong displays from Alex Neyland, Fintan Trickey and Chase Firman.

Then it was on to the Polding AFL trials which attracted over 60 talented players from all over Northern and Western NSW.

The six players from the Diocese chosen to be part of the NSW Polding AFL team are:

They can take great pride in being part of a very strong squad that will contest the NSW PSSA Championships in May.
