Parents Retreat Day in Maitland

On Saturday 14 October, the first Parents and Friends Federation of the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese held a parent retreat day at Monte Pio in Maitland.

Key note speakers including, Craig Moore (Psychologist), Sr Maureen Rigby (OP), Helene O'Neill, Monique Malone, Bronwyn Melville and Jennie Nolan presented throughout the day, engaging with the parents involved.

From quiet time with Sr Maureen Rigby reflecting on God's never-ending and great love for us, to egg and spoon races with Helene, a relaxing lunch with plenty of chatter, to Craig Moore helping us MasterChef our own ‘self-care soup’, it was all very well received and a retreat to be repeated.

All participants on the retreat were pleased with the variety of activities during the day and they all went away with something in their tool boxes to help them in their daily lives as parents.

Enthusiasm was high as parents lingered to talk a bit more as the day ended.

It was evident that connections were made and parents went away saying they would ‘spread the word’ about how valuable the experience was.
