Having consulted with the Presbyteral Council (CIC c. 461 § 1), and consulted the Diocesan Council for Mission (CIC c. 511), and in anticipation of the Plenary Council of Australia 2020, and in responding to the question of the plenary council - listen to what the spirit is saying, and the need to renew the Diocesan Synod of 1992-1993, I hereby convoke the Synod of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle (CIC cc. 460ff). The Diocesan Synod will be conducted according to the diocesan synodal directory.
It is not every day you come across a young man such as Tallas Lynch. The 18-year-old spends Saturday afternoons once a month handing out food packages in Islington Park. St Ignatius was born in 1491 in northern Spain. In 1521 he was wounded in a battle with the French. While recuperating, Ignatius Loyola experienced a conversion. Reading the lives of Jesus and the saints made Ignatius happy and awakened desires in him to do great things. Ignatius realised these feelings were clues to God’s direction for him.
