Students rocketing their way into Kids in Space program

Students from St Paul's Primary School, Rutherford rocketed their way into the annual Kids in Space program.

The program is an Australia-first that engages students in exciting, space-themed STEM learning and design thinking, promoting awareness of job opportunities in the space industry.

Year 6 teacher, Miss Laura-Anne Tuersley, applied to be part of the program at the end of 2023. As a program participant, the school received a 3D printer (to keep), and access to a 3D design program called Makers Empire.

Kids in Space students were challenged to think of a problem to solve, either in space or on Earth using space technology, and placed into groups to consider the design process before producing a 3D design solution, using their own 3D printer.

The students then created display posters and information to present their ideas before sharing their work with their school. Selected students were chosen to represent St Paul's Primary School, Rutherford in the showcase.

Congratulations to all students involved in the program and to the teachers who made the opportunity possible.
