Students from Catholic primary schools in the Diocese visited St Pius X High School, Adamstown on Thursday 5 September for the annual Year 6 sports day.
For a decade, Year 6 students have been treated to this day as a fun introduction to high school life. Year 10 students at St Pius studying Physical Activity and Sports run all the activities.
"It is part of the Year 7 orientation for the school,” said St Pius' Acting Assistant Principal, John McLoughlin.
“It means their first experience of high school is really fun. There are no results taken or trophies given out. They play 12 different games against 12 different groups.
"In Year 7, there will be about 250 to 300 students from eight feeder schools, as well as students from other schools, so this is a chance to play against the students they'll meet and to get to know some of the Year 10 students too.
"Year 10 students took on roles as team managers, coaches, part of the catering crew, the organising committee and in first aid."
