Register early for supported accommodation

CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning’s Acting Director, Gary Christensen, is encouraging people who have a disability and are interested in moving into modern, supported accommodation to register their interest early to avoid disappointment.

“Many residents in our Supported Accommodation service have told us that their decision to move into a group home involved ongoing conversations with family members, loved ones and service providers to ensure it was the correct decision for them,” Gary said.

“Yet, with vacancies in CatholicCare’s highly sought after supported accommodation rare, I’d encourage anyone considering making the move to register their interest early. This allows for greater communication about openings as well as the development of a sound relationship well before any move takes place,” Gary said.

As an organisation CatholicCare prides itself on forming strong relationships with local communities in which it operates.

“We take the time to get to know the people we support, as well as their families and carers. This ensures that at all times, choice and control are maintained and personal goals are being worked towards. Our commitment to a person-centred approach ensures confidence in the long-term quality of support being offered,” Gary said.

CatholicCare’s purpose-built, supported accommodation service in Mayfield, Newcastle, is enhanced by 24-hour care provided onsite by dedicated, qualified and caring staff.

“CatholicCare is a provider of opportunity for people living with a disability. We take care to ensure the people we support are living in a homely and inviting environment, where they have the space and freedom to express themselves and connect with fellow residents,” Gary said.

As an experienced NDIS provider, CatholicCare has the flexibility to deliver a wide range of complementary services according to individual preferences and unique needs.
