Over 70 women gathered to hear guest speaker Tanya Russell speak about self-care and mindfulness. Tanya offered some great insights into ways we can build mindfulness into our daily lives and reminded us about the importance of making time for ourselves. An interactive session also helped remind all the women present of their innate value, their special qualities and importantly, the things that make them happy. Tanya’s presentation was both practical and fun and everyone took something valuable away from her session.
Benita Tait helped set the scene for the evening with a beautiful presentation about the necessity of self-care, especially in times of challenge. Rachel Wilson and Renee Tyrell, from the Advanced School of Beauty, donated their time and skill offering all those present a wonderful, relaxing hand massage.
Conversation flowed, new friendships were formed and there was a lot of laughter in the room. I was reminded of the power of sharing our stories with other women and the strength we gain from doing so. Motherhood is not easy and having other women to help you along the way is vital to our wellbeing. Mums’ Night Out is proud to help facilitate this opportunity for women.
Feedback was very positive with one attendee stating, “it was good to take time out to remember that I am important too and to realise I am in the same boat as other mothers”. Another mother said, “I enjoyed Tanya’s presentation very much. It was relevant and very much in tune with the reality of mothering.”
Thanks to the Sisters of St Joseph − particularly Sr Lynette Pearce rsj, who started Mums’ Night Out almost a decade ago − and all the special women who have helped keep the evening going throughout the years.
