Students participate in Newcastle pilgrimage

Last week, a group of 16 students from Catherine McAuley Catholic College, Medowie, completed a pilgrimage through the streets of Newcastle, focusing on the work of CatholicCare in our local community.

The students began their day at the Refugee Hub in Mayfield, completing some gardening activities in the communal garden and hearing from guest speakers, before walking to Tighes Hill.

Here, they had some time in prayer with college chaplain Fr Anthony Coloma at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Students then walked to Newcastle West and visited Martha, CatholicCare’s social enterprise café.

Finally, they heard from Gary Christensen, Executive Director of CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning, who shared about the work of the organisation.

The pilgrimage was an informative learning and cultural experience for the students, check out the gallery of photos below.
