Primary Schools

The talent in our primary schools was highly evident again this year with 114 students selected for a New South Wales Polding team. Almost every pathway sport included a Maitland-Newcastle representative in a Polding team.

These students were successful in representing their school, region and diocese in each of their sports.  Each of these talented students was presented with a medal for representing NSW Polding at an NSW Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) sporting event.

Some students continued to excel in their chosen sport and were rewarded with a place in the NSW PSSA team to represent the diocese at the School Sport Australia competition. These exceptionally talented athletes are the best in NSW for their age group and are certainly athletes to watch in the future:

Secondary Schools

Diocese has a proud tradition of sporting achievement as demonstrated by the talented and gifted athletes throughout our secondary schools. It is always exciting to see athletes who have traveled through our school pathways and continue to excel in the sporting arena well beyond their school years.  Many students have continued to excel in a variety of sports and this is evidenced by those who represented our schools at all levels, in all sporting pathways.

We are extremely grateful that all pathway diocesan trials were able to go ahead this year. Many students were honoured to be named for a diocesan team to represent at NSWCCC. Many of these talented athletes were named for the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges (NSWCCC) team.  Below are the students who were named for an NSWCCC team.

As Education Officer of Sport for the Diocese, I am so thankful that all pathway sporting events went ahead and that our students were able to participate and excel in the sports they love.

Much thanks should be given to Sport Coordinators, Diocesan Convenors, Team Managers and Officials who, on top of busy school workloads, undertake these roles to give our students so many wonderful sporting experiences.
