Usually, we celebrate at San Clemente High School with other Dominican schools in our area, but this year that was not possible.
St Dominic lived from 1170-1221 and founded the Order of Preachers. St Columban's was established by the Sisters of St Dominic in 1817 – and their legacy of living the Gospel through the four pillars of Prayer, Study, Community and Service are alive and acknowledged at our school to this day.
During this turbulent year, we acknowledged that our school needed some fun and a chance to celebrate together, even if we could not invite our parent community or join with our sister schools.
The children dressed in the Dominican colours of black and white, and one of our learning support assistants dressed as a Dominican sister.
We had a meaningful liturgy with the theme of "spreading the Good News", followed by a sausage sizzle and tabloids activities in the playground, organised by our Stage 3 students.
Happy St Dominic’s Day to all.
