A key focus in our area of Catholic identity is to engage the school community in partnership with our St Benedict Parish community and both St Joseph's and Holy Family are part of the vibrant St Benedict's Parish.
With the St Benedict’s Feast Day being celebrated during the school holidays, both schools saw this as an opportunity to bring our communities together.
For the students at Holy Family who were part of the recent St Benedict's Parish Sacramental Program, this proved to be a very special opportunity to continue their faith journey.
In the week leading up to the service, students spent time thinking about what they were grateful for; our families and friends, our magnificent coastal environment, our capacity to learn many new and different things, our freedom, our ability to make wise choices and most importantly, to thank God who loves us, unconditionally.
With Holy Family not having a church near the school, the Cathedral experience was wonderful for the students.
Sitting with a group of students, I heard them talk about how they loved the internal structure of the domed ceiling and the magnificent chandelier certainly had the 'wow factor' for many.
Returning to the school after the service, students continued celebrations enjoying cake and balloons.
It was certainly a great way to finish off the term.
