We were blessed with cooler weather, which allowed for an enjoyable evening of singing, dancing and a Christmas play.

The evening commenced with families gathering for a picnic in the school before the concert. Canteen facilities were available as were raffle tickets, which did a roaring trade.

The concert commenced with our junior guitar group entertaining us with Throw Them Out the Window and Bananas in Pyjamas. Our Infants group followed with a play – The Night Before Jesus’s Birth. They then showed their knowledge of the local Awabakal language by singing Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in the Indigenous tongue. Following this they displayed their percussion skills with We Will Rock You.

Our Year 3 and 4 class followed with the Heel and Toe Polka, which was a step back in time for Mr Collins — our music maestro — reminiscing on his Tar Boy days. The students then sang the popular song My Lighthouse with actions – which was a great hit.

Our Year 5 and 6 group continued the entertainment with a “special” St Pius X Windale version of The Twelve Days of Christmas. They finished off their set with Jingle Bells Hip Hop. The majority of the Year 5 to 6 group then performed Aussie Jingle Bells and It Must be Santa as the senior guitar group.

The evening finished off with everyone joining in singing Christmas carols led by Mr Collins. It was then time for the monster raffle draw, and finally a visit from Santa, who was very generous with lollies for all the children.
