At St Paul’s, we are dedicated to celebrating the wonderful community we have and this year was no exception.
The day began with our senior students and some brave staff waking up early in the hall after our biannual Vinnies Sleepout. We are very thankful for the many generous donations of blankets and jackets that were made to our local Vinnies chapter.
After a tasty breakfast, the senior students were joined by the rest of the school community to begin the formalities of the day.
In celebration of NAIDOC Week, a smoking ceremony was conducted by former groundsman, Mr Trevor Henkel, who has recently retired after many years of service. Short presentations from staff and performances from Indigenous students marked the recognition of NAIDOC Week. The theme of this year’s NAIDOC celebrations of Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let’s work together for a shared future was celebrated by the school community followed by a liturgy.
It was then time for the talents and skills of many students to perform in the annual St Paul’s Got Talent, hosted by Year 11. Many brave and courageous students stepped out of their comfort zones and performed for the entire school community, sharing their talents with their peers.
Congratulations is extended to all students who performed on the day and to sisters Amelia Maxwell and Makayla Morgan who sang their own composition and were voted Best Talent on the day.
The afternoon saw the school community enjoy carnival rides, staff verse student basketball and netball games, futsal and dodgeball challenges and chill out time with friends.
It was a memorable day for all – particularly when it contributes to the social development of students and celebrates the wonderful spirit of our school community.
