Each year St Paul’s holds a Socktober Day to help raise money for the work of Catholic Mission. It also engages and informs students about their advocacy and formation activities during World Mission Month.
This year students have been learning about Myanmar, where Catholic Mission is supporting the development of educational opportunities for children – one of many social justice projects.
On the day students brought in gold coin donations and had the opportunity to customise their uniform and wear their choice of colourful socks.
A special sporting contest is also held each year. This year it was a House Cup handball contest. Jarred Baxter from Year 7 was crowned the winner on the day and points were awarded to his house group, Chisholm.
Socktober Day is one of four major social justice projects St Paul’s is involved with each year.
The next one will see students will soon begin preparing for the Christmas hamper drive which supports the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society for those in need this festive season.
