During the month of September, Genesis Health and Fitness ran a competition for local schools aimed at encouraging students and parents to get moving and more active.

Current members of the gym nominated schools they wanted to participate and Holy Family was chosen as one of the top three schools - along with Adamstown Public School and Merewether Heights Public School.

Students, teachers and parents were asked to get active daily and earn MyZone Effort Points (MEPs) with every 15 minutes of exercise equalling 25 MEPs. The school with the most points at the end of September stood to win a $1000 prize to be spent on sporting equipment.

Classes at Holy Family enthusiastically took up the challenge with their teachers and recorded their daily fitness activity with a their MyZone heart rate belt. Parents and students were also encouraged to attend sessions at Genesis where they could earn double points to allocate to the school.

In the end Holy Family came out on top, racking up the most points and taking home the $1,000 prize. The money will be used to replace the school’s soccer goalposts, to buy some new soccer equipment and to install a new shade shelter for gala days and special events.

We are very grateful to our parent community for their ongoing and wonderful support.
