The Global Leadership Summit provides students who attend Christian schools the opportunity to gather and learn more about what it means to be a leader.

Students from St Bede’s newly appointed Student Committee attended the day including Mackayla Jones, Naua Taufahema, Leila Kelly, Thomas Thorpe, Charlotte Black, Angus Laver, Sharlotte Mate, Maddison Delforce, Brayden Woodyatt, Arshdeep Kaur, Maddy Wilcher, Erika West, Abbey Hoult, Matilda Roberts, Charlee Jones, Elissa Trlifaj, Ashton Herth, Caitlin Price and Tyler Cox.

Student leaders from Maitland Christian School, Medowie Christian School and Port Macquarie Christian School also attended the event.

The students spent the day listening to world class speakers via a video conference about what it means to be a leader, participated in small group discussions with other students about their understanding of leadership and took part in praise and worship.

At the end of the day one of the students, Mackayla Jones, shared with the St Bede’s group what she felt she achieved from the day.

“I believe that leadership is service to others and to be a great leader you must be there with the people, listen to them and act upon what they have to say,” she said.

“The students were fantastic representatives of St Bede’s and Catholic Education, as well as being enthusiastic participants in the event,” said Jasmine Hutchinson, Student Coordinator at St Bede’s.

“Students have taken their learning from the day and will build upon it at the Student Leadership Day which will be held at St Bede’s on August 14.

“Here they will learn how to implement what they learnt in the context of the St Bede’s Student Committees.”
