Yesterday’s Diocesan Choral Showcase filled the auditorium at St Joseph’s Campus, All Saints College (ASC), Lochinvar with the sound of sweet melodies and harmonies.
Running for eight years, the Diocesan Choral Showcase provides an opportunity for diocesan secondary school choirs to perform and participate in some friendly competition. This year, six diocesan secondary schools performed a variety of hits including U2’s “Beautiful Day”, Adele’s “Hello” and Cold Chisel’s “Flame Trees”. The choirs were judged on their technical aspects, presentation and exemplifying Josephite charisms.
ASC, St Joseph’s Campus walked away with the trophy for Most Outstanding Choir with renditions of Neil’s Finn’s “Don’t Dream it’s Over” and the Pentatonix hit, “Na Na Na”. St Catherine’s Catholic College, Singleton also received a special mention for their acapella performance of the traditional African song, “Freedom is Coming”.
