This year’s theme was “Music Through the Ages”, with each school selecting a decade and paying tribute to that era through music and dance. Students displayed their amazing talents and enjoyed being able to showcase their performances on the stage.
Over 900 primary students enjoyed the matinee performance and a record crowd, well over 1000, attended the evening performance.
“The performances get better and better every year,” said Carmel Tapley, Secondary Curriculum Education Officer, and one of the producers of DioSounds.
“I would like to acknowledge the music teachers and students for the amount of thought, time and creativity that went on behind the scenes that contributed to the production of such a polished show.
“Congratulations must also go to Michelle Burgess and her team for the massive amount of organisation that allows for the smooth running on the night,” Ms Tapley said.
Established in 2007 as a lunchtime concert at St Francis Xavier’s College hall, DioSounds has grown into a highly accomplished presentation of the performing arts by our students. It is also testament to the creative guidance of their teachers.
“Being the last Diosounds that I attend as Director of Schools, I want to express my deep appreciation of the talents that have been displayed in this theatre for the last nine years and a very special thank you to Carmel Tapley and the teachers in our schools who have nurtured these talented students,” said Ray Collins.
“The success of Diosounds is witnessed in the enthusiasm with which students and staff have embraced this wonderful expression of the performing arts,” Mr Collins said.
