NSW Polding Winter Sports trials

The NSW Polding Winter Sports trials were held in Bathurst earlier this Term. The Maitland-Newcastle Open league team was highly successful, going through the rounds undefeated.

Six made the possibles/probables with Callum Woodrow (St Paul’s Gateshead), Fletcher Sharp (St Patrick’s Cessnock), Taye Cochrane (St Joseph’s Taree), Ethan Ferguson (St Joseph’s Taree) and Ned Jennings (St Paul’s Rutherford) making the Polding side.

The 11 years league also didn’t lose a game all day or let a try in with 8 in possibles/probables and had 5 boys selected including William Hogan (St Joseph’s Taree), Logan Aoake (St Columban’s Mayfield), Khynen Butler (St Paul’s Rutherford), William Kettles Wright (St John Vianney Morisset) and Ajay Watts (St Mary’s Scone).The boys’ football was also very successful, winning all 5 games without having a goal scored against them. Sam O’Donohue (St Patrick’s Lochinvar), Kyle McSeveney (St James’ Kotara South), James Reid (St Joseph’s Merewether), Jagger Wholert (St Catherine’s Singleton), Dominic Brymora (St Mary’s Warners Bay) and Kierry James (St Joseph’s Merewether) were selected in the Polding side.

In the girls’ football Claire Adams from Lochinvar and Josie Allan from Charlestown were both selected. In the netball Meg Hayden (St James’ Muswellbrook), Briella Morgan (St Paul’s Gateshead) and Sophia McMahon (St Joseph’s Merewether) were selected. These students will now represent Polding at the NSW PSSA Championships later in the year.

The NSW PSSA Basketball Championships were held recently. Noah Shiels from St Paul’s Gateshead was outstanding throughout the tournament, catching the eye of the selectors to make the NSWPSSA side − a great achievement.
