CatholicCare participates in Vinnies CEO Sleepout

On 21 June, Bryn Hoskins, CatholicCare’s NDIS Program Manager, will be braving the cold on one of the longest nights of the year to show support for the thousands of Australians for whom homelessness is a reality.

St Vincent de Paul’s CEO Sleepout is a fundraising effort which supports Australians in need by asking leaders in our community, government and businesses to spend a night outside, with little more than cardboard as shelter.

This year, Bryn will be joined by more than 1,000 local leaders in business all coming together to raise $6,420,000 to feed and house those without a home and in need of support.

“When you live a comfortable life, it is easy to become insular and forget about the challenges others face,” Bryn said.

“The CEO Sleepout is an opportunity to gain some perspective of the challenges presented to men, women and children within our community while also providing a conduit to raise funds to address these challenges.”

Speaking of his decision to participate in this year’s CEO Sleepout, Byrn said: “One 1,500 people are classified as homeless in the Hunter. Sleeping rough for one night to raise awareness and much needed funds was an easy decision to make.”

The 2018 CEO Sleepout builds on the success of previous events which were held in 2006, 2010 and 2013, the latter raising more than $5.3 million.

Bryn’s goal is to raise $5,000 to help break the devastating cycle of homelessness and you can help him reach his goal by donating here. By donating $55, you can help feed a family for a day. $105 provides emergency accommodation for families in crisis. $205 allows for the relocation of a person sleeping rough to accommodation services. $505 helps to pay rent for families in need who are faced with eviction.
