Taree Community Kitchen National Volunteer Week

It was smiles and scones all round at Taree Community Kitchen on Monday, with CatholicCare Social Services Hunter-Manning hosting a special morning tea to celebrate volunteers ahead of National Volunteer Week.

Around 25 volunteers attended and were treated to a spread of slices, muffins and scones as a gesture of gratitude for their tireless efforts serving others.

CatholicCare Acting Director, Gary Christensen, addressed the selfless and hardworking volunteers and expressed his personal thanks.

"Today is our way of showing our appreciation for the time you give up to serve wholesome and delicious meals to those in our community who need them most.

“Volunteers are the backbone of the Taree Community Kitchen and without your support the Kitchen could not operate. Thank you," Gary said.

The Taree Community Kitchen is run by around 45 volunteers as well as school students from St Clare's High School who selflessly donate their time and culinary skills to serve the vulnerable in the community.

The Kitchen operates Monday to Friday between noon and 1pm.
