Troy's story

Troy moved into CatholicCare supported accommodation in 2015. Prior to this he had lived with his family his entire life.

Troy’s goal is to live independently and gain employment. Accordingly, over the past 15 months we have supported him to learn to cook, read and write, pay bills, budget and travel independently.

CatholicCare collaborates with another agency to develop day programs that focus on enhancing Troy’s mental wellbeing and cognitive function. As a result, Troy’s self-confidence has improved enormously and he is leading a much healthier lifestyle.

He loves hanging out with his mates at CatholicCare and thoroughly enjoys the range of social activities that we plan with him including bowling, football and riding his bike as part of a group.

"CatholicCare has provided me with a very friendly and secure living environment," said Troy.

From July 1, local people living with disabilities can access NDIS funding. CatholicCare’s friendly and knowledgeable staff are here to help people in our community transition to this new funding model. We are a registered provider of the NDIS and a facilitator of opportunities. We will work with you to tailor support services to meet your individual needs.
