DR MICHAEL SLATTERY: Higher School Certificate

Our thoughts this week turn to our Higher School Certificate students, their families and their teachers.

The Year 12 young men and women in our schools are coming to the end of thirteen years of schooling and preparing for major external examinations.

We thank their families for the love, patience and support they have shown as they have walked the journey with their son or daughter. We show gratitude and appreciation to those teachers who have contributed to a Catholic education throughout the formative primary and developmental secondary years of schooling.

Above all we show appreciation to those school and parish communities that have worked with the parents to help form significant young adults who are ready to take up the next phase of their lives. Some will enter the world of work, whilst others will engage in further study at TAFE or university.

The Higher School Certificate will test their skills, knowledge and acumen across each of their Key Learning Area subjects. We hope that they are well prepared and have put the necessary effort into study and practice for these examinations.

No doubt there will be final Masses and final Year 12 farewells at each school where the community will formally wish them well.

Please keep them and their families in your prayers as they embark on this important part of their educational journey
