Fr Sabu, who is based at the Cathedral, assisted with singing and gave the homily.
Frs George, Sabu and Thomas from Lambton are priests who belong to the Syro Malabar Rite working in our diocese. Following a request from parishioners, the Mass was said in Syro Malabar Rite (Eastern Rite), though shortened as sometimes it can be very long. Fr George excelled in speaking both English and his native Indian language, a feat in itself.
Some of the Indian community travelled to St Paul’s to join in and support Frs George and Sabu. Parishioners were treated to traditional music, singing and prayers in what was a unique and beautiful experience. The Glendonbrook community is most grateful for the time and effort given by so many to make this event happen.
After Mass, we shared dinner in the nearby Glendonbrook Hall and continued a wonderful meal and camaraderie.
