Couple renews wedding vows on 50th anniversary

On Saturday 19 September, Jim and Helen Curran celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows at an afternoon Mass held in Muswellbrook.

The presider was Bishop Pat Power, who served as the Auxiliary Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn from 1986 until 2012. Parish priest Fr Anthony Nguyen assisted in the celebration of Mass, and Michael Nuanguma, a seminarian from Singleton, was altar server.

Jim and Bishop Pat have a long history, having met during their primary school years at St Christopher's School (which was run by the Good Samaritan Sisters), and then attending St Edmund’s College, run by the Christian Brothers, for their high school years.

In attendance were around 80 parishioners, along with Jim's brother Brian and other family members and close friends. After Mass, refreshments were served in the Cusa building beside the church.

Congratulations Jim and Helen!
