GALLERY: Challenging speaker addresses ACP

The speaker at last week’s Assembly of Catholic Professionals luncheon left his audience challenged and thoughtful – always a good outcome!

Paul O’Rourke of Lake Macquarie is the CEO of Emily’s Voice, an organisation which advocates for the life of the unborn child. He was formerly CEO of Compassion Australia, and earlier, Editor of The Newcastle Herald. Paul has a Master's Degree in child development and has completed theological studies.

Paul shared his vision of a nation which respects and protects life from its very beginnings. He pointed out that abortion is the leading cause of death in Australia, well ahead of cancer, heart disease, suicide and road accidents.

The assembly was moved by a series of short television advertisements produced by Emily’s Voice and which can be seen online at www.emilysvoice.com.

The leadership of Emily’s Voice hopes that once people are informed about the extent of abortion in Australia, they will become advocates for life, and also advocates for support for women finding themselves pregnant under difficult circumstances and who may consider abortion.
