A celebration of NAIDOC week at St Nicholas Early Education
The 2017 theme ‘Our Languages matter’ aims to celebrate the essential role that Indigenous languages play in both cultural identity, linking people to their land and water, and in the transmission of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, spirituality and rites, through story and song.

Learning the hundred languages
On Wednesday 3 May, Teachers and Educators from St Nicholas Newcastle West and Singleton had our annual professional development day. We all made our way to the lovely Crowne Plaza in the Hunter Valley for our training in Reggio Emilia.
Reflecting on the image of the child
For the educators of St Nicholas Early Education, a day to come together at the Crowne Plaza in the Hunter Valley as an entire agency to think, share, question and explore new ideas was too good an opportunity to pass up. The guest speaker at the first ever full day of professional learning was Kirsty Liljegren, consultant and lecturer of Reggio Emilia and the Teaching Director of Cornish College Early Learning Centre in Victoria.
