Learning about the natural environment at St Nicholas Newcastle West in the 0-2 room
Emma Pratten, St Nicholas Newcastle West Assistant Director and 0-2 years room leader, has had her heart set on being an early educator since high school, where she built the foundations for her career by studying Children’s Services as part of her HSC. She has worked in both preschools and long day care for the past 15 years, and brings her own interests, in teaching kids about nature, to the centre.
Book Week story time!
This morning a child brought in a story book from home. She was so excited she came running into the room, book in hand, to show her educators! We then gathered the children to the mat for a group time before morning tea so one of our educators could read the story to the children.

Creative Cubs practise social responsibility at St Nicholas, Singleton
Recently in the Creative Cubs, we have been focusing on becoming socially responsible and showing respect for the environment. Our journey began by planting a variety of vegetable seedlings in a newly constructed raised garden bed.
