Skidamirink a lot!

Last Friday, St Nicholas Newcastle West celebrated Mother’s Day with afternoon tea.

Across the whole centre, mothers were invited to come in for cheese and cake to celebrate all things mum! The Moane room had mums, grandmothers and aunties all joining in the celebration. The children were excited to show their mums their portfolios, paint their nails and give hand massages! We even had a photo booth set up with funny and crazy accessories!

A highlight of the day was when the children lined up along the sand pit to sing some of our favourite songs including ‘Upsy down town’, ‘Open shut them’ (normal and funny versions), ‘Down in the jungle’ and lastly, ‘Skidamirink’ (I love you song!)

As children were beginning to leave, they gave their mums a special gift, a clay heart with their fingerprint indented in it, some chocolate and some questions the children answered about their mummy. We certainly had some funny responses, ‘Mummy is very old’ and her favourite thing to do is ‘Hang washing’.

Thank you to all those mums who organised their busy routines to be with us on such a special occasion.
