Pope launches Click to Pray app

Ahead flying to Panama to attend World Youth Day, Pope Francis launched an app to encourage Catholics around the world to pray with him.

Click to Pray tells the user what The Pope is currently praying for so they can pray along with him.

Click to Pray is the official app of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network and the official prayer platform of World Youth Day 2019, which is taking place between 22-27 January. For this event, the app includes a special multimedia section to pray and meditate the Rosary for Peace.

The app has three main sections:

  • Pray with the Pope, with the Pope’s monthly prayer surrounding the mission of the Church and the challenges facing humanity
  • Pray Every Day, with a prayer rhythm involving three daily moments; and
  • Pray with the Network, with a space for users to share prayers with each other.

The app’s launch took place in St Peter’s Square as the Pontiff, who once claimed to be a “disaster” with technology, showed off its features on a tablet.

“Did I do it?” Pope Francis asked his aide after swiping on the tablet.

Pope Francis said the internet and social media is a way “to stay in touch with others, to share values and projects and to express the desire to form a community.”

The app is available in six languages and is available to download through the App Store [Apple] or Google Play [Android].
